Based on his belief that the FX needs of individuals and SMEs were not being fairly addressed by big banks, Jonathan and his co-founder Nick Robinson founded World First in January 2004. Their mission was to combine the best technologies and service to give their customers a better deal all round.
From the beginnings as a true start up in a basement flat, Jonathan has guided World First through a period of sustained growth and international expansion whilst, unusually, ensuring profitability throughout. Today, World First has exchanged more than £40bn for over 100,000 individuals and businesses and employs over 600 people across 6 international offices.
Prior to World First, Jonathan worked in the City with a number of renowned financial institutions. He worked as Head of Business Development within the Financial Markets division of RBS, and latterly at Citibank where he worked on the bank’s global corporate sales desk before moving to a new role managing the European sales of their online FX trading products.
Jonathan’s entrepreneurial flair dates back to when he was a schoolboy growing up in Glasgow where he bought and sold car number plates.
Jonathan holds a law and accountancy degree from the University of Edinburgh and is a member of Founders Forum, the premier community for global entrepreneurs, CEOs, and investors in the digital, media and technology sectors.
